This is my tenth season with the Ogden Valley Ski Team. They have been ten exciting years filled with great athletes and families. I have seen huge changes that have lead to exceedingly positive growth.
My skiing career began with chasing my friends around Snowbasin and Nordic Valley. I eventually began racing in youth races, town series races, Coca Cola Cups and the Nastar series. I moved on to racing for the Weber State Ski Team for four seasons. I have also had great success telemark racing.
I have been involved with race crew, ski patrol and now coaching. I had spent six years working with Snowbasin Ski resort and the U.S. Ski Team as a technical advisor and race crew supervisor for major race events. The Birds of Prey Downhill, several U.S. Nationals, many World Cups and the Olympics all fill my resume of big race events I have been a part of.
As a coach I have worked at all levels for the team from Development, to my current position as Junior Olympic, FIS coach and Academy Coordinator.
My goal as a coach for the Ogden Valley Ski Team is to share my passion for skiing, ski racing and an active outdoor lifestyle with the athletes. Skiing has given me the opportunity to see great places, make wonderful life long friends and gain valuable life skills. As a coach I have taken athletes to all levels of Championship events from YSL Champs all the way through to Western Region FIS Champs. Where we have seen success at all levels. It has been an exciting journey and one that I look forward to continuing.
Grew up ski racing in Killington, Vermont. Attended Killington Mountain School through high school racing at the FIS level. Four time Junior Olympic Athlete. Graduated from Plymouth State University with a degree in Business. Spent all four years as a member of the Plymouth State Ski Team. Earned All-American honors and named captain. When not coaching at Snowbasin, can be found freeskiing at Snowbird and working as ski and boot technician.
Grayson Davis - I started skiing the winter off 1976 and never looked back. I love skiing and ski racing for the fact that I can spend my time teaching and passing on a sport that is true and dear to my heart. I have been an active USSCA level 3 coach since 1990. Along the way I have been certified as a P.S.I.A. full cert. instructor for both alpine and telemark. In 2011 I received my 20-year recognition pin from P.I.S.A. Prior to coaching OVST I was the Head J4 coach for the Park City Ski Team, Rowmark Junior Program Head Coach, Waterford Ski Team and has coached the U.S. Tele Team during the summers. Grayson also worked at Snowbird for 20 years as a coach/trainer for the Snowbird Mountain School. Aside from his love of skiing and coaching, Grayson runs a freelance photography and digital imaging business.
Chrissie attended Mt Hood Academy and competed at the National FIS and NorAm level. After NCAA college racing, she coached at MHA for 5 years, starting with J-3s and moving up for the next four years working full time with the FIS group. She followed that with two years working with the FIS athletes at Jackson Hole Ski Club before going back to school for her Masters in Architecture degree at the University of Colorado. After working for an architecture firm in Denver for two years she moved to Ogden this summer. She loves to play outside, travel, and cook, and play with her cats. (But you can leave out that part, because it makes me sound like a crazy cat lady.)
Originally from Salt Lake, Utah is home. I’m entering my 5th season with Ogden Valley Alpine Team with 12 years of industry experience- coaching and working as a tech. Needless to say; I have a real passion for skiing, but am also an accomplished climber and triathlete. No matter the season, you’ll find me in the mountains.

All, We're excited about a great line-up of presentations for coaches over the next few months, held at the USSA Center of Excellence in Park City on Tuesday evenings. Check out the attached info and share with the coaches in your programs, these make for some great, easily accessible coaches development at any level, and the topics are relevant to all the USSA sports. Hi All,
I hope you're all having a wonderful summer. Jen and I ( along with the board) have been working all summer on various projects and ideas to support what should be another great winter. The board and I have taken on an aggressive fund raising theme for this coming fall, in hopes that we can better support both our athletes and you the coaches. We also had two successful summer camps, one at Mammoth in June and one in Mt.Hood earlier this month.
Please respond and let me know if anything has changed for you for this season , such as you will not be coaching, need a different schedule etc, change of address/phone.. That will help me in finalizing the staff as we start receiving registrations etc..My hope is that we grow our numbers again this year and I'll need all of you and hopefully more coaches to adequately staff our team. Once we begin to see our numbers take shape( specifically Devo) I'll get with each of you and we'll do contracts and schedules etc..
Some new things for 2011/12 that we'll be implementing are; a couple of "in-house" coaches clinics this year. The goal is to get everyone working as a team and presenting the same message to our athletes. We will be driving the message of strong "fundamentals" with our athletes from Devo(s) to J1(s). This will include adding a check list of "skills' to be mastered at each level of our program. We'll be discussing this in more detail throughout the fall. We'll also provide a "coaches handbook" this year that will give each coach at the various levels some daily protocols on training days, race days. communication and safety. In addition we will try and schedule a USSA Coaches clinic level 100 for our coaches at Snowbasin or Wolf early in the season ( we highly recommend you get certified with USSA).
Dryland at Mt. Ogden park begins Sept 8th and will run 5-6:30 on Tuesdays and Tuesdays. Our older athletes will continue to work with Basics at Weber State on M-W-F. We are also starting a Saturday morning activity such as a hike, bike, soccer game etc . all coaches are welcome to join in ( sorry no pay involved..) This coming Saturday will be a hike at Adams canyon in Farmington starting at 9AM. ( I'll forward you details)
Don't forget to sign up with USSA and also consider some of the USSA presentations this fall ( see forwarded email )
We'll get a coaches BBQ together in late Sept or early October, stay tuned.
Please as always feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
