The Ogden Valley Ski Team had a busy weekend with races at home and in Idaho. On Saturday, February 25, the development and regional athletes had a chance to compete on their home turf at the Snowbasin Youth Ski League Giant Slalom race. In the female J6 (ages 7-8) class, Megan Lusher and Margot Mortarotti showed great improvement with sixth and thirteenth place finishes, respectively. In the male J6 class, Jimmy Walsh took a convincing fourth, while rounding out the top fifteen were Hampton Vandenberg, Mason Phillips, Gabriel Pace and Brody Lister, placing eighth, ninth, twelfth and fourteenth, respectively. In the female J5 (ages 9-10) class, Mikayla Guimond, Lily Wahlen and Pearl Marden had strong finishes, placing eleventh, thirteenth and fourteenth, respectively. In the male J5 class, Andres Torres stepped onto the podium in second, while Levi Olsen placed sixth, Shane Petrey placed seventh, and Cooper Davis finished in eleventh place. In the female J4 (ages 11-12) class, Jessi Ahmann struck silver, Savannah Larsen took home the bronze, Sophie Scothern placed eighth, and Kalii Caldwell, Justine Paine and Brooke Larson placed tenth, eleventh and twelfth, respectively. In the male J4 class, Hunter Young took the bronze, Ethan D'Hulst placed seventh, Noah Poisson placed eleventh, Christopher Kubick placed twelfth and Tommy Pinkas finished in thirteenth place. On February 24-26 at Brundage Mountain Resort in McCall, Idaho for the Brendan Armstrong Memorial Intermountain Division Super Gs, in the female J3 (ages 13-14) class, Junior Olympic athletes Ruby Marden, Laura Anderson and Jana Robinson demonstrated strong, confident skiing, with Anderson cracking the top 20 on Saturday. In the female J2 (ages 15-16) class, FIS athletes Fiona Boomer and Sabrina Esposito had solid finishes all three days. Meanwhile, the male JO athletes were at Bogus Basin for the Trudi Bolinder Memorial Super Gs. In the male J3 class, Josh Almony and Kyle Ahmann skied confidently all three days, while FIS athletes Ryan Totman, Michael Townsend, Brian Davidson, Happy Brown, Joey Thomason and Tommy Franquelin pushed hard to keep improving their points for the season. Brown, in particular, has seen great improvement with his positive attitude and strong drive to succeed. Coming up March 16-18, OVST will be sending a number of athletes to the IMD Championships in McCall, Idaho. Competing for Ogden Valley will be female J5 athletes Emma Morgan and Anne Marie Davis, female J4 athletes Hallie Miller, Abi Guimond and Katie Townsend, male J5 athletes Bridger Harrison, Luke Kaschmitter and Tommy Walsh, and male J4 athletes Jack Davis, Cooper Harrison, Chase Miller, Christian Belmont and Christian Steidinger.
